I'M ASKING FOR EVERY WORMER TO TRY AND ADVERTISE THIS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE BECAUSE IF THIS STREAM WORKS OUT GREAT BIG THINGS WILL BECOME TRUE, TRUST ME, I CAN'T EXPLAIN IT EVERYTHING NOW BUT I WILL LATER ON

Been asking peoples opinions in forums and the general opinion seems to be that they are more interested on default schemes than roping schemes because most of them are not familiar with roping at all.

What if we start organizing and streaming tournaments (daily/weekly/whatever) of default schemes (Aerial, Elemental also.. hysteria I don't agree with) with commentating, at least for starters. Later we could spice things up with Roper and RR tournaments too. So the commentating would be directed for the new audience when it comes to commentary, but naturally everyone can tune in.

We can only pick and choose one stream at a time, but we I suppose it's not a problem, try to choose the most interesting game.

Basically how popular the streams become is about choosing the most audience friendly schemes to play (we can even tweak them to make them more attractive) and the SKILLS of commentators.

Orange showed this cool tweak where you can draw on the screen at the same time the game is going on so it would really help people to understand how the tactics and weapons work, flying trajectories and stuff.

AND, to make things more clear players should use teams with their Wormnet name as the team and also use Worm1, Worm2, Worm3 etc.. as names, makes it easier to follow and explain some tactics like worm advantage.

Any ideas? Suggestions how to make it work etc.? Who would got the time/passion to commit on this? Naturally we can switch commentators around but we should make timetable or something about it.

This is the official workplace for the upcoming "official" YouTube channel we're going to create as to promote WA. The more creative we can get, the bigger chance we have to go Viral and get huge interest. Most importantly let's keep this fun but still professional.

So far we're thinking of:

Streams from interesting and important games.
Good videos from WormTube.
Beginner-friendly tutorials.
The Big WA Guide which needs to be translated.
History of WA, what's the community like, what makes WA so great etc.
Getting personal with the players behind the screen, what it's like in the life of true worm-maniac. So audience can "relate" to them.

Keep them ideas coming. I still haven't decided of the name so name suggestions are more than welcome. I'm especially interested of the ideas how we could make a viral (hugely popular video) that's based around WA. Peja and Philie comes to mind as potential options for example.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.. and a viral video never hurts. ;D

People definately need to watch these games, especially the last one.

Talk about intense!

Orange is working on the streaming side of things and as it's easy to upload the streams to the youtube channel we're going to create, and we want to start right away so we're in BIG need to charismatic commentator(s) for todays clanner playoffs to get the ball rolling. Playoffs start at 19GMT.

Who would be interested? Please try to forward this as much as possible since it's happening today.

As for ideas for the topic of commentating is to make it noob-friendly with history aspects of WA and at the same time enterntain us more experienced ones who already know whats going on.

Any other ideas?

Many of us have surely fantasized about of being able to play WA for a living.

The game itself is known already but masses are not aware of the depth (thinking process and tactics) and the insane amount skills that this game requires if you want to compete at the highest level. Easy to learn, extreme hard to master. Fun to play and interesting to watch at highest level of competition.

The game is old and it might cause problems because we know how gamers nowadays are with their fancy graphics instead amazing gameplay. Not all is lost though. It's still possible to make people enjoy spectating this and for hardcore gamers taking this as serious e-sports game.

The biggest question is HOW we make this possible, and this is what the thread it is all about. It's not going to be an easy task but just FEEL how great it would be if we actually did it. Naturally we need Team17 behind this but as soon as they see VALUE coming out of it (money) they would support us, but we, as community need to make the work.

I got hugely inspired by Lacoste's newest video because it really sums up how hard and cool to watch this game really can be even just on default schemes level. Then there's the other side, roping, with some tweaks I'm sure it would appeal to the masses on great amounts.

Let's all take part of developing this idea further and lets make it possible. ATLEAST LET'S TRY! There's no harm in trying.

I think the biggest thing is to make a very interesting promotion video and put our best video makers on it, maybe add interviews of real players to make it more personal and players roping (so they actually see how much skill is involved simply by pressing 5 keys. Greatest default minds explaining their thinking process so people understand how much it relates to chess. The promotion video is the biggest leverage to get interest from companies (gaming and e-sports related ofc) that could make this possible.

If there's absolutely no interest from companies to help us out publicity or money-wise, then we need to start grinding it out ourselves. I have possibilities to invest thousands of euros (if needed) to get publicity. For example if we organize a WA tournament with prize pool of 5000e, media and gaming companies will make a fuss about it and therefore get media appeal and sure people will be interested what's this fuzz all about. All we need to do is to make people realize how amazing this game is (we all know it).

For example if Razer sees way to make money making keyboards designed just for roping and theres public interest and growing gamer base, they might jump to the opportunity.

If I've learned something in life, everything is possible if you just work hard for it, either we get help from some company or then we build it from the ground up ourselves.

There are multiple ways to advertise this game even without any money just by being creative, if you've heard the term Guerilla Marketing, you know what I'm talking about. Forums, etc etc etc. I'm ready to pull the sickest stunts needed to get the publicity.

In the end it's all up to the community and how bad we want it, so let's not try focus on the negatives but instead let's focus on how we could make this happen.

I know I would like to be part of a clan and play worms for a living and see how much we can actually master this game. The biggest question is: Would you?

GET EXCITED GUYS, it CAN be done, we just have to find the way.

I finally got rid off my screenlag problems (thanks for the help everyone involved!)

I still have keylock though and I've tried all kinds of remap key combinations (remapped space, arrow keys etc.) to get rid of it but problem still persist.

Is there any way around it or is it simply a hardware issue? My laptop is oldish (eMachines E625, for anyone interested).

Does anyone have any ideas that might help me out?

So I have this age old laptop that runs on Vista. I can't install XP on it since cd-rom drive doesn't work.

What should I do to keep clean this and keep it as best performance, I only want to use this for worming purposes.

Programs, tips are all welcome.

And also what's the lightest firewall you know of?

Cheerios.

General discussion / My Worms Movie.
October 10, 2012, 03:33 PM
It's really simple when it comes to editing as my PC didn't like me very much when I tried to mess around.

As it was my first try with anything related to movie editing, I kept it really simple and just focused on the gameplay.

Enjoy!

I'm a fan of really tactical elites, as I'm a fan on of really aggressive gameplay.

This is a thread for you to post your tactical awesomeness and explain your thoughtprocess at the same time.

Here I find myself in 4 vs 2 situation against Dub-C.

The art of of worm advantage and a "girder guy".

The way I lost this game was so unreal.. but in the end, should seen it coming.

Miss my nade throw, bounces weirdly and opens for enemy to rope. :D

1st of all. Are maps like this allowed in TUS? Cr8's go in "Bl corner" where your not able to pick it, hence your breaking the rules every time cr8 goes there and it's unfair anyways.

2nd. You complain how you "lost" the game when Neptunes blocked you EVEN THOUGH you we're the one who started blocking that hide and even continued it after Neptunes offered to not block you.

3rd. You didn't take your punishment from not hitting the wall. Neptunes, the rules say you need to quit the game if opponent doesn't take the punishment if you want to claim the win, if you continue even though he doesn't take the punishment, you can't take the win.. just for future situations. :)

You Kinslayer, are pretty damn lame.

My main question though is are maps like this allowed to pick?

Good job man. You broke Random's +40 winning streak record.

I'm so proud of you. :) You keep improving really fast. :)

Nice knocking skills you've got already Neptunes :)

+1 For Shy being a good coach

Can you imagine the feeling when gathering with Wormers all over the world in a big event dedicated to our love: Worms Armageddon. I know, you cum a little on ur pantz.

Colon's WormsCon plans back in the days were bit ridicilous. He was going to fly everyone one in, and we would play on planitium keyboards and have massive sponsors and so on. Lot's of talk, nothing happening.

We should work as community to make this thing happen AND if we do it right nicely, let's try to get media coverage. 8)

So guys.

Keep in mind, this the workplace thread and you throw suggestions/problems/bonuses you might think of.

Let's be realistic first of all.

We're looking for most amount of people, that's the point. Some of us already have had many small gatherings by a smaller number of people but we're aiming A LOT higher.

There's no bunnies, rainbows and goldpots on this one guys. Everyone has to buy their own plane ticket. Or you can beg for nino.

Where it should be held then?

My suggestion is Europe. The Netherlands, Amsterdam or somewhere close.
Why? First of all, it's easier to leave from USA than it's to enter there, so that's out. Sorry guys.
Secondly, Netherlands is quite middle in Europe, you can save some money when buying tickets.

Let's face it, a huge amount of us who are not kids like to drink alcohol and smoke weed and Amsterdam is great place for that for one reason. It's also a really beatiful city to go check out. We can enjoy our gaming seesions while enjoying ice cold beers and tasty bud.

Amsterdam is just a suggestion, tell your own ideas if you have something awesome.

It's not that big of a deal to talk about the space we're going to play in because we have no clue how much people are showing up. However, I'm sure it's not going to cost much, so it's not of a big deal.

Then we need to think about where to rest since I'm sure people want to stay for more than just one night. Weekender would be nice. We could rent a hostel rooms for us, some can hold up to 16 people and the cost is very little. Depending the gathering space's size and possibilities, those who want could just sleep there.

When the original WormsCon was planned, most of us were very young but nowadays we're much older and we can make things like airplane ticket and a little cash to happen much easier.

Main thing is guys. YOU need to be transformed into worms mania and want to make this happen, and I promise to everyone, it will happen and we will have awesome time. I've met bunch of wormers and I have only good memories from them.

WHEN?

Planning will take time and I think NEXT SUMMER is overall the best time to hold WormsCon, it's warm, you can chill outside after hardcore gaming sessions.

Let's get the ball rolling, share your thoughts!
